Not what I was expecting from a Jack Black film but I really enjoyed it. Based on a true story this film offers something far removed from mainstream Hollywood. It's well acted and the documentary style vox box clips really work.4/5

Safe (2012)
Below average Statham adventure. Very early 90s plotline that never gets going. The action scenes are good but after the promising opening it falls flat.2/5

Dead Man's Shoes (2004)
Low budget but truly brilliant British thriller. Menacing lead character, the tension builds all the way through to a brilliant conclusion. Epic and a must see.5/5
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Not what I expected. It's like a really shit Trueman-esque Evil Dead acid trip. Utterly rubbish and completely pointless.1/5

Senna (2010)
Marvellous documentary film making at its best. I'm not an F1 fan but this pulls you in. It's real, it's harrowing, it's haunting. It also portraits a maverick genius and tells the story beautifully. Amazing stuff.5/5
The Avengers (2012)
A slow start but it makes up for it 40 minutes in. It's all effects end egos that drive this film, it looks stunning! The biggest let down is the lead bad guy Loki, he's just a bit shit.4/5

The Guard (2011)
Very dry Irish comedy, offensive, non-PC and utterly brilliant. Gleeson is on top form again. It's like a mini Irish Lock Stock. 4/5

I am Bruce Lee (2011)
I've seen the stock footage a thousand times before and although it offers nothing new it's still well put together. One of the best Bruce documentaries ever made.4/5
How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
Good fantasy story and clever animation. The characters were not strong enough and the story too linear to make it great. But it's a solid Sunday afternoon family movie.3/5

Tyrannosaur (2011)
Gritty slow moving drama. Fantastic performances from the leads and a cool acoustic soundtrack. It's all story and characterisation which is what you would expect from a drama, good but not great.4/5

The Dictator (2012)
Ok so it has plenty of gags, and some genuinely funny scenes but it's still a shit film. No plot, no story, nothing. Just a string of misplaced controversial stereotype gags that aim for cheap laughs with no substance. 2/5

The Five-Year Engagement (2012)
This feels like a series of deleted scenes stitched together to form a film. 2 hours too long, disjointed with two many ups and downs and boring interweaving plot lines. Avoid this turd 2/5
The Pirates! Band of Misfits (2012)
Likeable Aardman animation with a decent cast. Funny, enjoyable with some subtle British hidden gags (Blue Peter badge). The story isn't strong enough to make it a classic but it's worth a watch. 3/5

The Hunger Games (2012)
It's Running Man for The Twilight Generation. It all takes place in the wood like Rambo. Long, tedious and quite crap.2/5

Wild Bill (2011)
A decent drama by Dexter Fletcher. Gritty, real and moving. I can tell its a good film, well shot, scripted and acted. I'm just not a big fan of dramas and I'd like to give it the 4 it deserved but I can't.3/5
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Ok, maybe not as good as the second one but still mind blowingly awesome. Didn't see the point in Cat Woman apart from the curves, Tom Hardy owns the screen space but it's Joseph Gordon-Levitt who outshines and out acts all the cast. 5/5
